Powell's Books in Portland is a union shop and a good alternative to Amazon.com.

Amazon.com. This online book store has the "customers who bought this item also bought feature which can help readers looking for additional titles. 

Barnes & Noble has a browse by genre which can provide reading ideas.

Books-a-Million According to Wikipedia this is the third largest bookseller in the U.S. behind Barnes and Noble and Borders. Founded in Florence, Alabama there are now about 200 stores in the South and Midwest. Stock is BAMM and traded on NASDAQ. Home page can lead to book club books and reviews.

iread is the Iowa Librarians' Readers' Advisory wiki. It contains Adult Reading, Teen Reading, Children's Reading, Readers' Journeys, General Readers' Advisory links, Iread members' favorites, and Iread member's 'future reads' lists.
